In this digital age, the opportunity to create a flourishing coaching empire has never been more attainable. So, if you’re ready to break free from the traditional 9-to-5, embrace your entrepreneurial spirit, and embark on a journey of empowerment and impact, you’re in the right place. Welcome to the realm of crafting your very own online coaching business – where your knowledge becomes your currency, and your success story awaits its first chapter.
I built a virtual run coaching business from NADA! With NO overhead costs. From my alcove studio in Brooklyn, NY, for three years.
It’s been a whirlwind, and nothing came easy. It still doesn’t! Through SO many failures and resulting wins, I can finally say I have successfully met my #1 goal of having a steady, successful online holistic run coaching business helping walkers become runners and runners smash goals worldWIDE from the mile to the marathon, at any age, and any pace. The coolest part is that I get to work with individuals chasing dreams similar to goals of my own: running farther and faster pain-free!
How’d I do it?
I will be sharing the steps that I took to get this business up and running. By no means is this conventional, but you might find value in what I do to use for your own business-building strategy or side hustle.
Choose Your Coaching Niche
Determine the specific area you want to provide coaching in. This could be anything from fitness and health, career development, life coaching, business strategy, personal finance, language learning, etc. Choosing a niche that aligns with your expertise and passion is essential. For me, this has been distance running coaching and running technique coaching.
Define Your Target Audience Through Market Research
Identify your ideal clients. Who are they? What challenges do they face? What are their goals? Where do you find them/Where do they hang out? Reddit, Instagram, TikTok? Understanding your target audience will help you tailor your coaching services to meet their needs.
Develop Your Coaching Offering
Create structured coaching packages that outline the content, duration, and objectives of your coaching. Consider the format of your coaching sessions (one-on-one, group sessions, webinars, etc.) and any supplementary materials you provide. I’m big on the 1:1 coaching, as this is the bread and butter of RUNWITHALLI, LLC Coaching currently, expanding into group coaching, for example. Make it clear and concise.
Build Your Online Presence
We wouldn’t be anywhere without this one. Instagram has been the platform where my audience and potential clients tend to be, and this is what I’ve stuck to. Stick to one platform while starting to keep yourself sane. Trust me 🙂 Establish a professional online presence through a website and ONE social media profile, like Instagram. Your website should communicate your coaching services, background, expertise, and the benefits clients can expect from working with you.
Create Compelling, Unique Content
Start creating valuable content related to your coaching niche! For example, on Instagram, this has been creating free video tutorials, how-to tutorials on pre-running stretches, post-running stretches all of the training essentials told by an expert coach! This could be in the form of blog posts, videos, podcasts, and social media posts on Instagram or whichever channel you choose to promote this on. This content will showcase your expertise and help attract potential clients to work with you!
Set Pricing and Payment Structure
Decide on your pricing strategy. Will you charge per session, per package, or on a subscription basis? Research the market and competitors to ensure your pricing is competitive while reflecting the value you provide.
Choose Your Coaching Tools
Select the necessary tools for online coaching, such as video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Skype, etc.), scheduling tools, social media planners, and payment gateways.
Legal and Administrative Steps
Register your business, obtain the required licenses or permits, and set up a business bank account. I set up my LLC in 2020 and created my business bank account along with that, for example 🙂 Additionally, draft contracts or agreements for your coaching services to protect you and your clients.
Market Your Services
Develop a marketing strategy to promote your coaching services. Use a mix of social media marketing, content marketing, email marketing, and potentially paid advertising to reach your target audience. In-person events, brand collaborations, and collaborations with other experts in your industry cross-promote your audiences, creating greater reach for both parties and increasing your potential to capture more clients!
Start Booking Clients
Once everything is set up, officially launch your coaching business. Promote your launch through your online channels and start accepting clients. Be prepared to adjust your strategies based on the response you receive. I fail daily to figure out what works and what doesn’t. It’s ongoing. But if we don’t learn and gain experience, we can’t grow.
Provide Outstanding Coaching
Deliver high-quality coaching sessions aligning with your values and client’s goals. Tailor your approach to each client’s needs and provide personalized, valuable insights, guidance, and support. This is what will differentiate you from any other coach. BE YO BE SELF! Authentic, genuine, and honest. THE END!
Gather Testimonials and Referrals
As you work with clients, collect testimonials and reviews. This can be in the form of an email or a Google My Business page which you can later embed onto your website! Positive feedback will help build credibility and trust with potential clients. Once you start providing results, you will attract more individuals who want those results, too, and you will be searched more often and found! Encourage satisfied clients to refer others to your coaching services 🙂
Conclusion
Remember that building a successful online coaching business takes time and consistent effort. It’s ongoing.
Stay open to feedback, don’t take anything too personally, continuously improve your services, and adapt your strategies as you learn what works best for your target audience!
